I am at goal… and my life has shifted to maintaining that and loving myself and my life!
BUT… it is not effortless nor EASY. There are a few things that I did to get here that I plan to keep doing so that I can STAY here. That is the REAL goal. YES? – Suzi Shaw, Head Admin Bariatric Eating Support on Facebook
1. Sugar Free Jello.
I make a batch 2 or 3 times a week depending. I LOVE dessert and find that this ALWAYS fits into my day. I do not view it as a FREE food where I can eat the whole batch….but it’s there when I can’t talk Fatbrain out of a snack.
Starting my day with protein – either solid or liquid sets me up for a day where I can manage my hunger better than without. The days I don’t start with protein when my feet hit the floor and I wait until I feel like breakfast? Those are the days I seem to graze and snack through my afternoon.
3. Crystal Light, sugar free Kool-Aid, unsweetened Iced Tea, cold Green Tea.
I keep a pitcher in the fridge and when it’s gone I make another one. Rotate the flavors and the brands to suit the season or my taste, but ANY Zero Calorie (or close to 0 ) beverage will only HELP you. Do it for your health. Do it for your skin. Do it for something to do when you find yourself in the kitchen.
4. Review my goals and update as needed.
Hardly a week goes by where I don’t reflect on why I started this journey, how far I’ve come and what I want to do next. I don’t want to lose sight of the prize….and I try to keep the prize changing so I don’t get bored.
Sadly…we can’t rely on ONLY the kitchen and the surgery to get us to Goal. Exercise is something I don’t really like doing, but GOSH, I love how it makes me LOOK and FEEL. So….to the gym I go. Find something, ANYTHING that gets you sweating that you will do. In the gym. Out of the gym. In your living room…where ever. Just move.
