BMI CALCULATOR

To be considered a candidate for a Bariatric procedure, you must be clinically morbidly obese. (Exceptions for those with severe comorbidities are taken into consideration on an individual basis and lap band procedures have slightly more flexible criteria)) Morbid obesity marks the point where the disease begins to interfere with your basic physiological functions such as breathing, walking, and sleeping. It is defined as the condition of weighing two or more times your ideal body weight; however a more accurate indicator is having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 kg/m2) or greater. BMI is a calculation that relates an individual's weight to their height. Gastric bypass or bariatric procedures are only presented as an option for those whose weight is high enough that the medical risk of their obesity outweighs the risks of the procedure.
