Happy New Year

We are quickly approaching the New Year, and for some of us it is with trepidation and scared-to-death-ness of what weight-loss challenges this year will bring. For others…it’s gonna be a walk in the park!

What makes the difference in how you’ll feel? Being prepared to do whatever it takes to get to your goal OR stay there. I mean really prepared…emotionally and with a protein-stocked pantry.

Take this opportunity to reassess how you’re doing so far. Are you losing steadily? Are you meeting your protein, vitamin and water goals every day? Are you maintaining like you want to, or is the scale creeping up? Are you struggling with wanting to snack and the need for unhealthy carbs? Are the emotional-eating demons rearing their ugly heads?

We are in the fight for our lives, but we are also in a unique position in that we’ve been given a wonderful weapon to use in that fight: a pouch the size of an egg and, for many, a reduced hunger sensation. We need to learn to use this weapon to its fullest advantage and if we do, we’ll win this battle and gain years of health and happiness.

Susan and Dolly are the great emotional motivators. They’ll help you get rid of that ‘stinkin thinkin’ that is so destructive and can undo all the hard work that you’ve already put in. I’d like to help you with eating preparedness so that this side of the fight becomes a no-brainer.

With meal plans, menus, shopping lists and a few must-haves in your pantry, you’ll be able to sail through the remaining pounds you need to lose and be well on your way to an effortless maintenance.

A lot of you have tried the recipes and products that we’ve tested and recommended. You already know how wonderful the food is that we can eat. Many of your families are also seeing the benefits of eating the WLS way and some actually prefer the recipes on here to the more carb-laden favorites of the past. This is great! We want you to feel comfortable cooking for your family and know that you can sit down to the meal and partake with them without feeling left-out or without having to cook two separate menus. This will only lead to frustration and aggravation, throwing up your hands in surrender and falling off the wagon big time!

Many of our recipes make enough for a family, but we don’t want those who cook for one to feel forgotten, either. We’ll give you tips on how to halve a recipe or make another meal altogether with the leftovers.

We will have a shopping list to go along with the meal plans, as well as suggestions on what staples to always have on hand so that a tasty, home-cooked meal is just around the corner. We want to provide you with an arsenal so that the stress of the day or that midnight forage through the fridge doesn’t turn into a disaster.

This journey we are on is for LIFE. It’s not a ‘diet’ that we simply endure and hate every minute of and can’t wait to be done with so we can go back to eating like a normal person. If that’s what you make it, you are setting yourself up to fail. It will be no different than what you did for the past who knows how many years. This needs to be a life-style change that you look forward to - not a form of punishment.

So come on kiddos….grab your aprons and join me in the kitchen. In this New Year let’s try something wild and daring - something that was a foreign concept to our old selves……let’s learn to feed our bodies as if our very lives depended on it!
