Asian Turkey Meatballs
Fast and tasty! I love Asian flavors and these little meatballs taste like dim sum dumplings or pot-stickers.
Ingredients
Meatballs
- 1 1/4 pounds lean ground turkey
- 1/4 cup panko crumbs. Measure this carefully! This little bit goes a LONG way for flavor and texture.
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger - or use Gourmet Garden Ginger tube found in the produce section
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 3 scallions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
Sauce
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 scallion, sliced
Instructions
- Gently blend the turkey, panko, egg, ginger, garlic, cilantro, scallions, soy sauce and sesame oil and form into small balls – I use a small metal ice cream scoop to portion, then roll with my hands.
- Brown in a non-stick skillet 3 to 4 minutes, until cooked through.
- In a bowl, blend the sauce ingredients – soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, and scallion –pour over meatballs in skillet and cook a minute to reduce slightly.
To serve, plate the meatballs in a small pile with long toothpicks nearby. Or use bamboo skewers. If you like you can garnish with sliced peppers & sesame seeds.
