Ingredients for hummus: chickpeas in a red bowl, lemon, garlic cloves, tahini, olive oil, and salt on a white surface.

This is all you need to make the best hummus you have ever tasted.

1. Two cups cooked chick peas (either simmer a bag of dried in water until soft or well drained canned)

2. Half a lemon

3. Two tablespoons tahini or sesame paste (or peanut butter in a bold unconventional move)

4. Four garlic cloves

5. Olive oil

In bowl of food processor combine chick peas, lemon juice, tahini, garlic and 2 tablespoons olive oil - process until smooth.

Scrape down sides of bowl. Process again, dribbling in 1/2 cup warm water until hummus is smooth and fluffy and spreadable - even silky. Add salt to taste - about 2 teaspoons.

Plate of hummus with romaine leaves, mini peppers, and apple slices arranged around a small dipping bowl.

I like a drizzle of olive oil and a dusting of smoked paprika when I serve myself a bit to eat with a spoon or scoop with vegetables.

Plate with hummus served on romaine lettuce, a red pepper slice, and an apple slice.

All GOOD CARBS. Drop the Mic. Yum.
